My great-grandparents were bakers by trade. Having operated two bakeries in Manhatten, when paul & Anna moved to Portland, it seemed only natural to open another here. Shortly after, sometime in 1920, the pair opened the Cottage Bakery near 34th and East Belmont.

Running right in front of the store -- and up past their house near 43rd -- was the Belmont Streetcar. This bag was inspired by those clasic, oversize magazines of the stretcar era, and wold be as at home on today's streetcars, or anywhere else you need to carry a book, some magazines, or small project.
